Frequently asked questions about the Spatial Reality Display feature for the ELF Series monitor

Check the status of the indicator light next to the Power switch on the front of the device.

• If the indicator light is not on
  The power may be off. Check the AC adapter connection, and then press the Power switch.
• If the indicator light is orange
  If there is no signal, it may be in standby mode (MENU button on the front of the device — Automatic shut-off — on (default setting)). Check the signal from the input device such as the connected computer.
• If the indicator light flashes orange
  Unplug the power plug from the outlet, wait for a while, and then plug it in again. If the light continues to flash, note the number of flashes and contact the Sony customer center.
• If the indicator light is red (ELF-SR2 only)
  The firmware update may have failed. Please try the update again.

Note: This device detects the user's face with an Eye-sensing sensor on the camera, recognizes the user's line of sight, and displays an optimized image. Therefore, if faces cannot be detected, the screen will remain black. When viewing, it may be difficult to recognize faces due to masks or hats.

Check the following settings.

• On the computer
  • Make sure that the Spatial Reality Display is selected as the output destination in the operating system's Sound settings.
  • Check the audio format of the content you are playing. The only formats that can be played on this device are 32K/44.1K/48KHz L-PCM.
• On the device
  If the volume of the device is 0 (zero) or very low, you will not hear any sound from the speakers. Use the ＋/- buttons on the front of the device to adjust the volume.
  

On the computer, check if the input signal resolution (Display resolution) is supported by this device.
Supported resolutions:

• 3840x2160p (60Hz)
• 1920x1080p (60Hz) (ELF-SR2 only)
• 720x480o (60Hz) (2D display only)
• 640x480p (60Hz) (2D display only)

If an input signal has a frequency other than the above, a This signal is not supported message is displayed on the device. (Depending on the image and frequency, an image may appear in the background.)

Note: If the resolution on the computer is set to full HD (1920x1080), the computer operating system may automatically upscale the image and output to this device in 4K. In such cases, no message will be displayed on this device. Please note that this is also one of the causes of the absence of 3D effects.

This device has a special lens (micro-optical lens) on the front of the LCD for 3D display. Therefore, when displaying in normal 2D (displaying the normal desktop or application screen of a computer), the image will not be correct and the colors will appear to blur or bleed out.

Note: For ELF-SR2, If you set the display magnification ratio of the OS display setting as 150% or more, it's easier to see.

Since this device is dedicated to displaying 3D, it cannot be used as a normal 2D computer monitor.

NOTE: This device has a special lens (micro-optical lens) on the front of the LCD for 3D display. Therefore, when displaying in normal 2D (displaying the normal desktop or application screen of a computer), the image will not be correct and the colors will appear blurred or faded.

• ELF-SR2: USB 2.0
• ELF-SR1: USB 3.2 Gen1 (old standard name: USB 3.0)
  Note: The USB terminal is compatible with USB3.0. Use the USB cable included with this device when connecting to the USB port of your computer.

It may be due to a poor USB connection. Try the following to improve the issue.

1. Plug and unplug the USB cable.
2. Try connecting to another USB port on the computer.
   Note: For ELF-SR1, try a different USB 3.0 port.
3. Restart your computer.

If the issue is not resolved, try updating the Firmware. Doing so can improve the stability of the connection with your computer.
Download the Firmware Updater from the Spatial Reality Display SDK(SR Display SDK) Download webpage, then unzip and run the update.

Check the following:

1. Is the HDMI cable connected to both the computer and this device?
   If so, try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable to see if the issue improves.
2. Is the USB cable connected to both the computer and this device?
   If so, try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable to see if the issue improves.
3. Check if this device is turned on or if the power cord is securely plugged.
4. Make sure that the Software Development Kit (SDK) is installed on Unity or Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) for the computer. The SDK is available on the SR Display SDK Download website.
5. Make sure that the application has not been launched twice (for example when multiple 3D content executable files generated on the computer are executed consecutively). If this is the cause, close all apps that have been executed (the screen started with the generated executable file) and try again.

Please use a DP1.2 compatible cable.

A cable that satisfies the following conditions is required.

• Supports DP Alt mode
• Compatible with USB 2.0 or higher

Notes: USBPD function support is not necessary.

Make sure there is no dirt, fingerprints, or smudges on the screen. If there is, wipe it off with a supplied cleaning cloth and check again.

If the firmware update fails, check the following:

1. Check the format of the USB flash drive. Only FAT32 format can be used. The exFAT, NTFS, or MAC formats cannot be used.
   Note: Windows OS tools can format up to 32GB of memory to FAT32. Using a USB flash drive of 32GB or less is recommended.
2. Make sure that the USB flash drive has at least 1GB of free space.
3. Copy the update file in ZIP format (as it is) to the root folder of the USB flash drive. Please do not include other files.
4. Turn on the device and confirm that MENU is displayed by pressing the MENU button, and then insert the USB flash drive firmly into the UPDATE connector on the back side of the device.
5. Connect to a computer and the device with an HDMI cable and USB cable.
6. Make sure that the computer will not go into idle standby during the update.
7. If the issue is not resolved after checking above, try using another USB flash drive.
