I would like information on the Nimda worm virus.

A worm called Nimda infects both e-mail and Internet web sites. Nimda spreads through e-mail, through web servers, and through file-sharing. Infected computers scan the network for vulnerable computers, which puts a heavy load on networks and can cause poor performance. Nimda also creates open network shares on the local drives of a computer, which could allow outsiders to access the computer.

Conditions where this virus infection is potential:
- Windows 2000 models, using IIS with no countermeasure toward vulnerability taken.
- Using Internet Explorer 5.01, 5.01 SP1, 5.5, or 5.5 SP
- When accessable shared folders are open to by the computers that are already infected.
