How to turn Safe mode On or Off?
Safe mode appears on the screen.
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.
If your TV doesn’t operate correctly, some downloaded applications may be the cause of the issue. Turning on Safe mode disables all downloaded applications and allows you to check if the TV is operating normally.
If the issue does not occur when Safe mode is turned On, consider un-installing any recently downloaded applications. Those applications may not be compatible with the Google TV™ or Android TV™ and causing issues.
- To enter Safe mode, follow these steps:

- Press and hold the POWER button of the TV remote control until the a message Power off appears.
NOTE: For notes and details when restarting, refer to the article How to restart (reset) a Google TV or Android TV?. - When Google’s animation begins, press and hold the Volume down (-) button on the remote until the animation disappears.
NOTE: The words Safe mode will be displayed on the left bottom corner of the screen.
- Press and hold the POWER button of the TV remote control until the a message Power off appears.
- To exit from Safe mode, press and hold the POWER button of the TV remote control until the a message Power off appears.
