Casting from mobile devices or computers to the TV fails.
IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.
If the TV is not detected as a cast destination, or the connection fails after selecting the TV on the device using Chromecast built-in, refer to the following.
Before you start
- Each of these steps represents a possible solution to this issue, check to see if the issue is resolved after completing each step.
- For Google TV™, the cast function will be invalid if set up with Basic TV mode.

Troubleshooting
- Make sure that your device and the TV are connected to the same home network.
- Make sure that your device and the TV have the correct time settings.
Note: To set the date and time of the TV, refer to the article How to adjust the date and time on the TV. - Make sure the Chromecast built-in or Google Cast Receiver app is not disabled.
- Open the

- The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Select Apps → See all apps → Show system apps → Chromecast built-in or Google Cast Receiver → Enable. (Android™ 9 or later)
- Select Apps → Chromecast built-in or Google Cast Receiver → Enable. (Android 8.0 or earlier)
- Open the
- Clear data on Cast function apps, Android System WebView, and Chromecast built-in.

- The next steps will depend on your TV menu options: Notes:
- Select Apps → See all apps → Show system apps → Cast function apps → Clear data → OK. (Android 9 or later)
- Select Apps → Cast function apps → Clear data → OK. (Android 8.0 or earlier)
- Do the same for Android System WebView and Chromecast built-in as well.

- Open the
- Reset the TV.

Note: For a mobile device, temporarily turn off the mobile device and wait approximately one minute before turning it back on. - Update the TV to the latest software.

- Open the
Settings screen. How to access Settings
- The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Select Apps → See all apps → Show system apps.
- Select Apps.
- Select Android System WebView and Chromecast built-in, then check if Uninstall updates is shown.
- If Uninstall updates is not shown, proceed to step 9.
- If Uninstall updates is shown, select Uninstall updates and OK.
- After uninstalling the updates, reset the TV.
- Open the
- Install the latest apps for Android System WebView and Chromecast built-in from Google Play Store.
Note: For manual installation, refer to the following:- Open Google Play Store. The steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Select Quick setting → Settings → Apps → See all apps → Show system apps → Google Play Store.
- Select Apps → Google Play Store.

- Open Google Play Store. The steps will depend on your TV menu options:
- Restart the wireless router. (Unplug the router, and wait approximately one minute before reconnecting the power.)
