Casting from mobile devices or computers to the TV fails.

    IMPORTANT: This article applies only to specific products and/or operating systems. Check the Applicable Products and Categories section of this article before starting these steps.

    If the TV is not detected as a cast destination, or the connection fails after selecting the TV on the device using Chromecast built-in, refer to the following.

    Before you start

    Troubleshooting

    1. Make sure that your device and the TV are connected to the same home network.
    2. Make sure that your device and the TV have the correct time settings.
      Note: To set the date and time of the TV, refer to the article How to adjust the date and time on the TV.
    3. Make sure the Chromecast built-in or Google Cast Receiver app is not disabled.

      2. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select AppsSee all apps Show system appsChromecast built-in or Google Cast ReceiverEnable. (Android™ 9 or later)
        • Select AppsChromecast built-in or Google Cast ReceiverEnable. (Android 8.0 or earlier)
    4. Clear data on Cast function apps, Android System WebView, and Chromecast built-in.

      2. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options: Notes:
        • Select Apps See all apps Show system apps Cast function apps → Clear dataOK. (Android 9 or later)
        • Select Apps Cast function apps → Clear dataOK. (Android 8.0 or earlier)
        • Do the same for Android System WebView and Chromecast built-in as well.
        • For Cast function apps, refer to the webpage Chromecast built-in - Apps.
    5. Reset the TV.
      Note: For how to reset the TV, refer to the article How to restart (reset) a Google TV or Android TV™?
    6. Restart the device.
      Note: For a mobile device, temporarily turn off the mobile device and wait approximately one minute before turning it back on.
    7. Update the TV to the latest software.
      Note: For how to update, refer to the article How to perform a software update
    8. Uninstall updates for Android System WebView and Chromecast built-in app.
      1. Open the Settings screen. How to access Settings
      2. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select Apps See all apps Show system apps.
        • Select Apps.
      3. Select Android System WebView and Chromecast built-in, then check if Uninstall updates is shown.
        • If Uninstall updates is not shown, proceed to step 9.
        • If Uninstall updates is shown, select Uninstall updates and OK.
      4. After uninstalling the updates, reset the TV.
    9. Install the latest apps for Android System WebView and Chromecast built-in from Google Play Store.

      1. Open Google Play Store. The steps will depend on your TV menu options:
        • Select Quick settingSettingsAppsSee all appsShow system appsGoogle Play Store.
        • Select AppsGoogle Play Store.
      2. Refer to the instructions on the webpage How to update the Play Store & apps on Android - Google Play Help.
    10. Restart the wireless router. (Unplug the router, and wait approximately one minute before reconnecting the power.)
