How do I view 4K (50/60p or 100/120p) and HDR content from an external HDMI device connected to an Android TV™?

    4K (50p/60p or 100/120p) Content:

    IMPORTANT: Only the Z8H, X90H, KM-X9000H and Z9G series support 4K Enhanced format (18Gbps or above) such as 4K 100p/120p.

    To view content in 4K 50p/60p, use a High Speed HDMI cable to connect the TV to an HDMI device which supports 4K.

    To view 4K content with Enhanced format (18Gbps or above), follow these steps:

    NOTES:

    1. Prepare an HDMI cable suitable for the video signal to be played.
      NOTES:
      • To view content in 4K Enhanced format (18Gbps): Use a Premium High Speed HDMI cable to connect the TV to an HDMI device which supports 4K.
      • To view content in 4K Enhanced format (18Gbps or above): Use an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable to connect the TV to an HDMI device which supports 4K.
    2. Connect the HDMI cable to compatible HDMI terminal on the TV.
      NOTE: Determining if an HDMI terminal is compatible depends on the TV model. For additional details, refer to the What functions are supported on each of the HDMI terminals? FAQ article.
    3. Set HDMI signal format:
      1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
      2. Select  Settings.
      3. Select Watching TV.
        NOTE: If Watching TV is not shown, skip this step.
      4. Select External inputs.
      5. Select HDMI signal format and set to Enhanced format, Enhanced format (Dolby Vision) or Enhanced format (8K), depending on your TV model.

    HDR (High dynamic Range) Content:

    To play back content in HDR, follow the steps below.

    1. Prepare the TV which supports HDR.
      NOTES:
      • To check whether your TV supports HDR, refer to the Is my Android TV compatible with HDR? FAQ article. 
      • The 2K model W80xG series TVs only support HDR game titles of an HDMI connected PlayStation4 and HDR video of the built-in Netflix and YouTube™ Apps.
    2. Connect the HDMI device which supports HDR to the TV.
