Registering my Touchpad Remote Control or Voice Remote Control always fails.

Follow the steps below to re-pair the remote control.

1. Remove and reinsert the remote control batteries.
2. In Settings, turn Bluetooth off then back on again.
3. If the TV and remote control are paired, unpair them. Follow the steps below to check if they are paired..
4. Re-pair the remote control.
5. Perform a Power Reset procedure.

1. Remove and reinsert the remote control batteries.
   Notes:
   • Pairing can fail if the battery level is low. Change the batteries to new ones and try pairing again.
   • For Google TV™ models released in 2022 or later (except for W8K and X74K / X75K series): When you follow the instructions on the screen and the red LED indicator above the microphone hole blinks rapidly just for two seconds, the battery level is low. Change the batteries to new ones and try pairing again.
2. In Settings, turn Bluetooth off then back on again.
   1. Open the Settings screen. How to access Settings
      • If the remote control has a Quick Settings button:
        1. On the remote control, press the (Quick Settings) button.
        2. Select Settings.
      • If the remote control does not have a Quick Settings button:
        1. On the remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
   2. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
      • Select Remotes & Accessories.
      • Select Remotes & Accessories — Bluetooth settings.
      • Select Bluetooth settings.
      • Select BRAVIA Settings.
   3. Select Bluetooth, then disable the function.
   4. Select Bluetooth again, then enable the function.
3. If the TV and remote control are paired, unpair them. Follow the steps below to check if they are paired.
   Note: If your TV is listed below, skip this step.
   Target model list:
   • 2022 models (except for W8K and X74K / X75K series)
   • 2021 models (except for W8 and X7 series)
   • 2020 models (except for X74H / X75H series)
   • 2019 models: A9F, Z9F, A9G, Z9G, X95G, X85G (55, 65, 75, 85) series with TV software updated to version 6.4960 or later
   1. Press the HOME button on the remote control.
   2. Select  Settings.
   3. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
      • Select Remotes & Accessories — Bluetooth settings.
      • Select Remotes & Accessories.
      • Select Bluetooth settings.
   4. Check if the device information (ex: SONY TV RC MIC 001) of the remote control is displayed.
      • If the device information of the remote control is not displayed, check step 4 below.
      • If the device information of the remote control is displayed, use the following procedure to unpair.
        1. Select the device information of the remote control.
        2. Select Unpair.
        3. Select OK.
4. Re-pair the remote control.
   Notes:
   • If the Remote Control is registered to a different TV, turn that TV off and then follow the steps below to reregister your Remote Control to the desired TV.
   • There are two types of remote controls referred to in this answer. The microphone mark is printed on both types, as shown in this image.
   • The position of the microphone button/mark may vary, depending on your region or model.

     

     • A: Touchpad Remote Control
     • B: Remote control that supports voice recognition

   When using Type A (Touchpad Remote Control)

   Check the following.

   When pairing using the IR Remote control (without the microphone mark printed):

   1. Turn on the TV.
   2. On the IR Remote control, press the HOME button.
   3. Select Settings.
   4. Select Touchpad Remote Control settings in the Network & Accessories category.
   5. Select Pair Touchpad Remote Control.
   6. Select Yes.
   7. Follow the on-screen instructions.

   When pairing without the use of the IR Remote control:

   1. Turn on the TV.
   2. On the back panel of the TV, press the INPUT button for 7 seconds.
      Note: The following image provides an example of the INPUT button.
      
   3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

   Note: Each Touchpad Remote Control can be registered to only one TV. For details see the How many TVs can register a single Touchpad Remote Control and vice versa? article.

   When using Type B (Remote control that supports voice recognition)

   check the following.

   1. Turn on the TV.
   2. Open the Settings screen. How to access Settings
      • If the remote control has a Quick Settings button:
        1. On the remote control, press the (Quick Settings) button.
        2. Select Settings.
      • If the remote control does not have a Quick Settings button:
        1. On the remote control, press the HOME button.
        2. Select Settings.
   3. The next steps will depend on your TV menu options:
      • Select Remotes & Accessories — Remote control — Activate the MIC button or Connect via Bluetooth.
      • Select Voice Remote Control or Remote control — Activate  (MIC) button or Connect via Bluetooth.
      • Select BRAVIA Settings — Voice Remote Control.
   4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

   Note: When the activation is complete, a light on the remote control will blink.

5. Perform a Power Reset procedure.
