Alexa does not detect my soundbar or wireless speaker after initial setup in the Sony | Music Center app
Follow these steps to troubleshoot this issue:
- On your smartphone, check whether the Amazon Alexa app displays the name of your soundbar or wireless speaker.
Note: Your soundbar or wireless speaker will not respond to voice commands if it does not have the Amazon Alexa device name registered in the Alexa app. - Check the Amazon account used during the initial setup.
- If a different account was used, perform the initial setup again and sign in with the correct Amazon account.
Note: If the Amazon Shopping app is installed on your smartphone, you may be automatically signed in with that Amazon account during the initial Amazon Alexa setup in the Sony | Music Center app.
If the issue persists, try the following:
- Check whether any Amazon apps other than Alexa or Amazon Music are installed on your smartphone (for example, the Amazon Shopping app or Kindle app). If other Amazon apps are installed:
- Verify the email address of the Amazon account used in those apps.
- If the account differs from the one used with Alexa, log out of the other Amazon apps.
- Check whether you are signed in to a different Amazon account in your web browser.
- Open the Amazon Shopping website in your browser.
- If you are logged in with a different Amazon account than the one used with Alexa, log out.
- With all other Amazon accounts signed out, follow these steps:
- Connect your smartphone and the audio device to the same network.
- Launch the Sony | Music Center app on your smartphone.
- Select the audio device in the Speaker & Group menu.
- Select Settings → Amazon Alexa → Setup, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup again.
- If the Alexa-enabled device responds correctly, sign back in to any apps or services you logged out of in the previous steps using the original accounts.
