How to restore hardware configuration to default setting by using BIOS?

    There are two BIOS types of VAIO notebook: PheonixBIOS and AMIBIOS.
    The operating steps and operating interface vary with different BIOS types.

    Note
    As the following steps are not for hardware initialization, the data on the hardware will not be deleted.



    Please refer to the following steps to check the BIOS type on user's computer.

    How to check BIOS types?


    1. Turn on the computer, and then tap F2 continuously when Sony or VAIO logo appears.

      For VGN-U series without peripheral folding keyboard, press [Fn] and tap [F2] at the same time when the [VAIO] logo appears.

    2. After BIOS setup menu appears, check the BIOS type of VAIO.

      ● PheonixBIOS
      PheonixBIOS Setup Utility appears on the top of interface.




      ● AMIBIOS
      American Megatrends, Inc. appears at the bottom of interface.


    Next, restore hardware configuration (CMOS) to default value.
    Please refer to the specific steps for user's BIOS to restore the settings.

    1. Press (right arrow key) on keyboard, and then select the Exit menu.

    2. Press (down arrow key), select Get Default Values and press Enter.

    3. When Load default configuration now? appears, select Yes and press Enter.

    4. Press (up arrow key), select Exit (Save Changes) and press Enter.

    5. When Save Configuration Changes and exit now ? appears, select Yes and press Enter.


    Complete above settings.






    AMIBIOS


    1. Press (right arrow key) on keyboard, and then select Exit menu.

    2. Press (down arrow key), select Get Default Values and press Enter.

    3. When Load Optimal Defaults? appears, select OK and press Enter.

    4. Press (up arrow key), select Exit (Save Changes) and press Enter.

    5. When Save Configuration Changes and exit setup? appears, select OK and press Enter.
