The top or bottom halves of pictures appear black or cut off horizontally when using a flash or studio strobe made by another manufacturer.

This issue occurs when the shutter speed is set to a value faster than the camera's flash sync speed, or to a value faster than the shutter speed recommended for the flash. To resolve this issue, slow down the shutter speed.
IMPORTANT: Set the exposure mode to Manual Exposure mode (other than ISO AUTO is recommended) and set the shutter speed to either the camera's sync speed or the value recommended by the flash, whichever is slower, or to a lower speed than that.
