How to make connections with Remote Desktop?

To make connections with Remote Desktop, please follow the steps below.
1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications and click Remote Desktop Connection.
2. Enter the name of the computer to be connected, and click Connect.

* Advanced settings of Remote Desktop Connection
In the default settings, the resolution and color of the Remote Desktop window are set in accordance with the environment of the machine that displays them. To allow more advanced settings, click Options.

** Display configurations
The resolutions options are: 640 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1152 x 864 and 1280 x 1024 dots. The colors options are: 8, 15, 16 and 24 bits.
Depending on the environment, user can use only 16bit of color number even if the setting is 24bit.

** Local resource configurations
This setting allows user to use the local resources such as disk drives and printers from remote computers.

** Configurations of Experience
User can make necessary changes to optimize the performance during the remote sessions based on the transmission rate available.
The default settings are: a 28.8Kbps or a 56Kbps modem, WAN lines in the range from 128Kbps to 1.5Mbps and the LAN lines over 10Mbps.

Note:
As Windows XP Home Edition has only the client function of the Remote Desktop connection, and not the host function, user cannot log on and operate Windows XP Home Edition from another computer.
On the other hand, Windows XP Professional has both functions; the host and the client functions of Remote Desktop. However, it is only one user that can operate two Windows XP Professional computers at the same time.

Important:
To enable Remote Desktop function, an administrator account are required to log on. In addition, password is needed in order to use Remote Desktop connection. If without password settings, the following error message will appears Unable to log you on because of an account restriction..
