Why doesn't the icon that shows the connection status of PC card device appear on the task tray?

When I clear the [Show Unplug/Eject icon on the taskbar] check box in the [Unplug or Eject Hardware] dialog box, the icon that shows the connection status of PC card device does not appear on the task tray. Why is that so?

Please refer to the procedure below to display the PC card connection status icon on the task tray:

    --Procedure--
    1) Click [Start], point to [Settings], and then click [Control Panel].
    2) Double-click the [System] icon, click the [Hardware] tab in the [System Properties] dialog box, and then click [Hardware Wizard] button.
    3) Click [Next] in the [Add/Remove Hardware Wizard] dialog box.
    4) Click the [Uninstall/Unplug a device] option button, and then click [Next].
    5) Click the [Unplug/Eject a device] option button, and then click [Next].
    6) Click the device that you want to remove, and then click [Next].
    7) Again, click the device that you want to remove, and then click [Next].
    8) Select the [Show Unplug/Eject icon on the taskbar] check box to show the status icon on the task tray, and then click [Finish].
