Why am I unable to compress the drive?
Why am I unable to use the hard disk to compress the drive? When using DriveSpace or Compression Agent, the following error message appears:
- "Drive C cannot be compressed because it is a FAT 32 drive. ID Number: DRIVESPACE738" or
- "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor."
In these cases, when I click on [Detail], the error message "DRVSPACE caused a general protection fault in module DRVSPACE.EXE" appears.
If you create partitions of the hard disk drive by FAT32, you cannot compress the drive by using a Windows standard tool because this is one of the specifications of Windows. On VAIO, the hard disk partition is FAT32.
