What is the setting for sharing of My Document folder in Windows Me?
You can set up the sharing in either of the following ways:
1. To set up the sharing with Home Networking Wizard.
(1). Click [Start] -> [Programs] -> [Accessories] -> [Communications] -> [Home Networking Wizard].
(2). Click the [Next] button when [Welcome to the Home Networking Wizard] appears.
(3), When [Setup options] window appears, click [Yes, I want to edit my Home networking settings on this computer.]. Click [Next].
****Go to next step if [Setup options] does not appear. Display may be different depending on PC setting.*****
(4). Keep on clicking the [Next] button until [Share files and printers] window appears.
(5). Check the [My Documents folder and all folders in it.] box.
If you want to set a password, click the [Password] button and go on to the next step.
If you do not want to set a password, click on the [Next] button and go to the step (7).
(6). [Password] dialog box appears. Type in the password in the [Password] and [Confirm password] box and click [OK]. Click [Next]. (Go to step 8.)
(7). The [You did not specify a password. You should use passwords to prevent unauthorized access to your files.] message appears. Click [OK] and click [Next].
(8). Click [No, do not create a Home Networking Setup disk] in [Home Networking Setup disk] window, and click [Next].
(9). Click [Finish] in [Completing the Home Networking wizard] window.
(10). Click [Yes] when the [You must restart the machine for the changes to take effect. Would you like to restart now?] message appears.
(11). When the message [Congratulations! Home Networking is set up on this computer.] appears after your machine is restarted, click [OK].
Now the operation to share the My Document folder is completed.
2. To set up the sharing with adding Network component.
(1). Add a [File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks] with the following procedure:
a. Right-click on the [My network places] icon and click [Properties]. Click [Add] in the [Configuration] tab.
b. Choose [Service] in the [Select Network Component Type] window and click [Add].
c. Choose [File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks] and click [OK].
d. Click [OK] to close the [Network] window, and restart Windows as indicated.
(2). Right-click on the [My Document] icon and click [Properties].
(3). Click the [Sharing] tab and click [Shared As]. Choose [Read only], [Full], or [Depends on Password] in [Access Type]. Set a [Password] if necessary and click [OK] to close [My Documents Properties].
Now the operation to share the My Document folder is completed.
