The Sony 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS is a fantastic wildlife lens.Sharp, fast focusing and with incredible reach,it makes capturing distant subjects easy.The image quality is excellent throughout the zoom rabge,making it a must have for wildlife and bird photography.Highly recommended.

I purchased about 6weeks aho and have used it seversl times. I am very plesded with the results. The only down side for me being a large lens I need is tripod. Great for hide work.

The only problem I find with combination of A 6700 and Sony 200-600mm is that it initially does not focus on birds in flight s at initial stages. Since in mirrorless there is slight lag in actual movement than what you see in camera the initial focus hunts.Where as in my Nikon D750 a dslr it instantly focus on birds in flight. However tracking is better in Sony A6700 with 200-600mm.

I bought this lens a week ago and it’s not been updated ff my camera since. Outstanding lens with superb build quality and lens resolution. My go to lens for wildlife photography.

Great lens from Sony great service nothing is to difficult

I bought this lens a couple of weeks ago and I am so glad I did. I have been blown away by both the quality of the images produced and how exact and intuitive the controls are. There is enough resistance to not feel 'sloppy' but not so much that there's a jerk or snap point as you vary the zoom or focus. I love it!

Never owned a large zoom so took the plunge and pleased so far

Using this since two months, took in to multiple safaris. Some safaris were in extreme foggy condition. However, the lens performed upto the mark. It has awesome autofocus capabilities with crisp sharpness. Zooming mechanism is best, no barrel extension like other lenses.

I recently bought this lens to photograph wildlife in 2026, i also bought the Sony A7V when it was launched to pair to this lens to benefit the tracking and up to 30 FPS. The optical stabilisation is incredible and for me the weight is ideal to handhold, the internal zoom is also great for stability.

Fantastic lens for the cost. An all rounder for sports/wildlife.

As expected I found the lens fast focusing when using my A7Cii and my A7CR. It has the reach i need in one of the most compact forms. I successfully shot birds and even the moon. Combine with a 2x tellconverter the reach is impressive. I did replace the foot for a third party alternative but apart from that I fully recommend this lens.

I’ve been using the Sony 200-600mm for about 2–3 years now, and it continues to impress me every single time I take it out. The zoom range is simply fantastic — it covers everything from close wildlife action to distant subjects with ease. The image quality is outstanding — razor-sharp, with great clarity and contrast throughout the range. Autofocus is fast and accurate, and it pairs beautifully with Sony’s full-frame cameras like the A7 series.

The best birding lens on the market, great glass, internal zone, consistent focus and image quality and value for money.

The ability of the lens to focus when hand held at 600mm is amazing. I have added this lens for use with an A7 mk iv and and use it not only for planned outings (usually using a tripod) but also for opportunities as and when.

So glad I purchased this lens. Absolutely amazing quality and quality of shots is outstanding. Had made my photography of animals and wildlife look professional. Best buy if the year!

I have had this telephoto lens for about a month and I have been very satisfied with the results. I had delayed buying this lens for some months as I was concerned that the weight would be an issue and I should perhaps buy the smaller Sony 100-400mm telephoto lens. In facts the extra 200mm has proved very beneficial when photographing birds and wildlife, even when hand holding the lens. I also wear glasses and I knew I needed a Sony lens with fast, accurate auto focusing abilities. The Sony 200-600mm lens does not disappoint.

Who knew far away things could get so close and look so good! I’m loving this lens. It’s not the most portable thing in the world but I knew that when I bought it and have since bought a monopod which works really well with it.

I have been using the lens for around a month now and I have to say I am stunned at some of the results I have produced with it so far. It obviously isn't the brightest lens but when used to it's full potential it still produces a beautiful image even while being used handheld. The sharpness is fantastic and the colour rendition is brilliant too. I haven't noticed any CA or vignetting and it is a lens you can easily shoot handheld but it goes without saying that to get the best from it at 600mm a tripod is a good call. For the budget I had I chose this lens to pair with a sony A7 IV and they are a great match and the weight means I can easily shoot handheld for a full day and still produce a great quality image. This is a G lens so you do get what you pay for and I am always eager to get out and use it for wildlife photography. My ONLY issue with this lens is the location of the focusing ring and zoom ring, I wish they were the other way around but it is not the end of the world and I will get used to that in time.

When i first picked up the FE 200-600 from Wex in Leeds UK i couldn’t wait to pop it onto my A6700. Quick read of the manual regarding the mode switches and i was straight out in the garden. The main thing is getting used to the extra weight and how to hold and adjust the very quick zoom etc. once you build up the muscle memory it becomes a great carry around lens and a joy to use. I am getting some very sharp images of small birds and some lovely distance architecture shots as well. The image stabilisation is very good when the correct mode is switched on and once connected to a tripod or monopod it becomes very stable and again a joy to use.

I am really happy with the performance of Sony FE 200-600 mm lens which I bought some two months ago. In these period I mainly used this to shoot small birds and butterflies and found the lens very sharp and autofocusing is fast.

I recently bought this lens and as with all my Sony lenses, it is living up to my expectations. My main use for this is to capture birds in flight. As I am getting used to it, it is becoming better and better. I will let the images speak for me. Most of the following were taken at distances between 50 and 150mtrs.

Wonderful lense, sharp and great reach paired with the A6700

Initial uncertainty around 200-600mm vs 100-400mm...and the extra weight issues! Important admission...I'm a birder...NOT a bird photographer. I simply wanted a camera/lens that would get me great record shots, in most situations. So glad I went for the 200-600mm! The extra 'reach' is amazing...as is the image quality; even in quite difficult conditions. The weight issue is quite minor... as it's easy to carry with a Black Rapid Strap... Hand-holding the camera/lens combo has not been problemmatic...for still, active & BIF. I've been using it for a few weeks now...protected with LensCoat cover...no issues thus far! Delighted I chose the 200-600mm...it was excellent value for money & giving great results.

I bought this for wildlife photography and am impressed with build and image quality. I have had limited opportunity to use if so far but am excited to get out more with it.

Happy to have bought this Lens for wildlife photography.. I think its a better option as compared to the SIGMA 150-600 I was using earlier

I bought this some months ago. I used it to take birds photos. It's auto focus is marvellous.clarity also supper. One down side is its weight. Without a tripod, it is difficult to study shoot.

Tried this for the first time a couple of days ago. Being new to using this type of lens, I was surprised how easy is was to use in the hand. Well balanced. will try it on the tripod next time.

I have been using this lens mostlt for wildlife photography, especially birds in flight, sometimes with the Sony 1.4x teleconverter. The results are superb. Very sharp, even when wide open. Focussing is very fast and accurate. I print A2+, the prints are pin sharp. Overall, an excellent lens that is not too heavy and is when designed for ease of handling.

A very good well built lens I use it every day great for bird photography.

I am a novic photographer, I love my point and shoot wildlife photos. My partner treated me for Christmas with this lense and I have yet to test its full capabilities but so far I am really impressed with this lense. It is larger than I would normally use but I have invested in a monopole which helps with holding and stability. Great photos ans zoom on this lense. 100% recommended for any keen photographer whether novic or pro.

Bought this for going on Safari , but bought early so I could get a few trips out to use and review my shots, must say I feel like I am able to capture far away animals and birds like never before, it is heavier than any previous equipment but imagine that’s the price of quality, still need to remember to up the shutter speed when at full length and believe that it’s best used with a monopod for stability

Worse lenes I've owned in 22 yrs. I got a refund. Could not get a sharp image from my copy.

This lens has been fantastic even in low light situations like woodland tree cover or forests. The 95mm filter makes it easy to get filters and the weight of the lens isn't a issue.

I've been using this levs for a couple of months and taken some truly fantastic photos. It's good either on a tripod or hand held. My photos have included a variety of birds, both birds of prey and in my garden.

The lens is everything I expected, solid construction and great image quality. The only downside being the carry strap with is the same strap as my a7cr, which is not sufficient or comfortable for a lens of this size and weight. As the lens is quite expensive I think it is a little mean of sony not to supply a more substantial strap. A purchased a peak design strap and discarded the sony strap.

This lens is so versatile and the fact it has an internal zoom with keeps it sealed from dust and weather and with effortless and fast change from 200-600 is fantastic for moving subjects and the biggest bang you will get for your money from any lens! its that good I brought 2!

This lens is very sharp even at 600mm unlike some other makes. This is very important as this is the only focal length that you may need to crop into the image at for wildlife etc.

Like most of us, I did the research - best long zoom for my A7iv! Obvious 2 were the 100-400 and this. Having my used a 70-200 with 2x teleconverter (which wasn’t bad at all), I decided on the reach of the 600, with some hesitation after reading how good the 100-400 was. I needn’t have worried. G lens for a reason, the lens is sharp across all the zoom range and at 600 and cropping in, I’m really pleased with the IQ. Build is amazing - if a little heavy, but you soon get into it. Feels like money well spent, so highly recommended!

Amazing quality but too heavy to use comfortably handheld

I bought this a month ago and have used for action photography. It captures focus so quickly with my A7iii, and the detail is outstanding

I have only had this lens for a couple of weeks but since attaching it to my also new Sony A7iv it hasn't come off. I have had so many sharp keeper images from this lens and camera combination. Focus is quick, images are sharp and it's half the weight of my previous camera and lens combination. I love this lens so much I have now moved over to owning just a Sony system.

Use this with a 1.4x and get great photos of birds and other wildlife.

Have had other zoom lenses but have to say this one is the most impressive so far. Even able to hand hold at 600mm and get a sharp image.

Such a compact lightweight lens for this long long range. So easily hand held with the brilliant built in OSS stabilisation, one handed ( or rather single finger-tip ) operation adds to this flexibility and freedom. I simply love this lens

I switched from a Nikon D500 paired with a Sigma 150-600mm C lens to Sony A7iv and this beast. To say the difference between these 2 lenses is night and day is an understatement. It's tack sharp wide open @ 600mm which I could never have said about the Sigma. It feels better in the hand, the zoom ring goes the right way and, even better, it's only a 1/4 turn to go from 200 to 600mm.

Despite numerous emails only £100 of the strated £200 cashback has been received. The serivice ive come to expect

I wanted a zoom lens and looked at cheaper options but I'm glad stuck with the Sony. The stability is incredible, even when zoomed in. All the attached photos are hand held. Quite new to photography and I view this as my first "proper" lens and can't wait to use it more.

Great buy! The biggest lens in my Sony kit. Works great an all my Sony cameras, smooth to operate with pin sharp accuracy. Very pleased with the performance. Love it :)

The lens delivers exactly what I wanted which was teh ability to capture sporting moments from a distance. The picture quality is very good. The lens is very easy to use when holding it in my hand as not too heavy.

This lens is the best value, not only Sony, but other makes as well. My only observation is that at infinity [focus], contrast and sharpness could be better. I found that a polarising filter helps a lot.

As a recent Sony shooter, previously Nikon, I am really impressed with this Sony 200-600, its sharp, relatively lightweight and the added bonus of internal zoom, paired with both the A6700 or A1 it really delivers.

Brought this 3 weeks ago. Love the internal zoom as it simplifies sports photography by stopping too much camera movement. Overall very pleased with image quality
