Question

There is a white, cloudy, or light spot in the middle of the screen when the power is turned off.

Answer

When the TV power is turned off, a white, cloudy, or light spot may be seen in the center of the screen. This phenomenon could be caused by dust on the screen or by ambient light being reflected off of the reflective surfaces of the television screen.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

Clean the television screen.
Turn off all lights in the room and close the window shades to determine if the spot is being caused by a reflection.
Note: If the spot is not apparent when the lights are turned off, the issue is likely a reflection from a nearby light source. Turn on each light individually to determine which light source is causing the reflection.
Try a combination of the following to eliminate the reflection:
- Move the light source causing the reflection away from the television.
- Adjust the position of the television so the screen angle does not catch the light.
- Move the television to a different location.
Note: You do not necessarily have to find a new location for the television. It may be possible to eliminate the reflection by moving the light or television a few inches.

The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. If you have completed all of the steps and the issue is not resolved, service may be required.
