Question

Pictures cannot be transferred to an external hard disk drive because the drive letter keeps changing.

Answer

This issue has been reported to occur occasionally when using Picture Motion Browser (PMB) 3.3 software or higher. Follow the steps in the solution below to resolve this issue.
  1. On the computer desktop, click Start.
  2. On the Start menu, point to Programs.
  3. Point to Sony Picture Utility.
  4. Point to Tools.
  5. Click Settings Initialization Tool.
  6. In the PMB Settings Initialization Tool, click the Restore the program to its default settings box.
  7. Click the Start button.
  8. In the PMB Settings Initialization Tool dialog box, click the Yes button.
  9. Click the OK button.
  10. Change the drive letter of the external hard disk drive to another letter that is not in use:
For Windows® 2000 Professional operating system
    For Windows® XP operating system
    For Windows Vista® operating system
  11. Start the PMB software.
  12. In the PMB dialog box, click the Register Later button.
  13. Click the OK button.
  14. In the Information Tool dialog box, click either the Enable Automatic Notification or Disable Notification button.
  15. In the PMB window, click Tools.
  16. In the Tools drop-down menu, click Settings.
  17. In the Settings window, click Viewed folders.
  18. Click the Add button.
  19. In the Select Folder window, click to select the external disk drive and desired folder where you want to save the images.
  20. Click the Select button.
  21. Click the Apply button.
  22. In the PMB dialog box, click the OK button.

The PMB software will now be able to transfer the pictures from the camera to the external hard disk drive.

IMPORTANT: After you are finished transferring pictures to the external hard disk drive, re-register the other folders on your computer for viewing.
