Limited Warranty and Service Conditions on VAIO Accessories
w.e.f 1.2.09.

For the purpose of this Limited Accessory Warranty and Service, “Sony” means Sony India Pvt. Limited for this computer hardware product (the “Product”*) purchased from one of Sony’s official VAIO dealers or distributors, in India. Sony offers:

  1. Limited Warranty:
    1. For a period of 06 Month (180 Days) from the date of purchase, Sony warrants that the Product is free from defects in materials and workmanship and in conformity with the respective specifications of the Product.
    2. Upon discovery of a defect in materials, workmanship or failure to meet the specifications in the Product during such 6 month (180 Days), Sony shall, on production of original invoice of purchase from Sony Authorized dealer or distributor, at Sony’s sole discretion, either repair such Product or replace it with the identical type of product without charging any technical labor fee and repair parts cost to you, on the condition that you bring such Product to Sony’s service center within such 6 month (180 Days) of date of purchase.  In case of repair or replacement, Sony may own all the parts removed from the defective Products.  Sony may use new and/or reconditioned parts made by various manufacturers in performing warranty repairs and replacement of the Product.  Even if Sony repairs or replaces the Product, its original 6 month warranty term is not extended.
    3. This limited Accessory warranty covers only the hardware components contained in the Product.  It does not cover technical assistance for hardware or software usage and it does not cover any software products contained in the Product; Sony excludes all warranties express or implied in respect of any software provided with Product and any such software is provided “AS IS” unless expressly provided for in any enclosed software limited warranty.
    4. This limited warranty is non-transferable.
    5. Sony Shall not be liable to compensate you in any manner for the time taken to undertake the warranty services. 
    6. This warranty is limited as set out herein and does not cover, inter alia, any consumable items (such as batteries) supplied with the Product; or damage due to (1) acts of God, accident, misuse, abuse, negligence, commercial use or modifications of Product; (2) improper operation or maintenance of the Product; (3) connection to improper voltage supply; or (4) attempted repair by any party other than a Sony authorized personal computer service facility.
    7. This limited warranty does not apply when the malfunction results from the use of the Product in conjunction with any accessories, products or ancillary or peripheral equipment, or where it is determined by Sony that there is no fault with the Product itself.  This limited warranty is valid only in India.  This limited warranty is invalid if the factory-applied serial number has been altered or removed from the Product.
    8. SONY EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES THAN STATED HEREINABOVE, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
  2. Telephone Support:
      1. Sony offers telephone support (“Support”) to you without charge over the telephone for ninety (90) days regarding the Product, except for any third party’s software products in accordance with the then-current terms and conditions set by Sony.  
      2. Sony will not offer Support to you for problems regarding any software or hardware products licensed or sold by any party other than Sony.  If you need such Support, you shall contact the respective supplier or licensor of each such software or hardware product.
