How to use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard?

Using Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, user can transfer the files and settings of his/her computer to another computer. In addition to the settings of the desktop, display, dial-up connections and others, user can also transfer all settings of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook Express.

Note:
- When using Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, only some personal setting can be transfer.
- When using Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, sometimes problem might occur for example like the program will close before its completion.
- If multiple Users were created, Files and Settings Transfer Wizard are to be schedule to run for each Users.

When both computers are installed with Windows XP
* To obtain files and settings from the source computer, follow the steps below.
1. Start Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
2. Click Next.
3. Select the Old Computer option and click Next.
4. Select a transfer method to be used and click Next.
5. Select an option suitable for the transfer item and click Next.
6. The Collection in progress message appears, and the collection of files and settings starts.
7. Click Finish when the collection is completed.

* To transfer settings to a destination computer, follow the steps below.
1. Start Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
2. Click Next.
3. Select the New Computer option and click Next.
4. Select the I don't need the Wizard Disk. I have already collected my files and settings from my old computer. option and click Next.
5. Select a method which the files are to be saved and click Next.
6. Click Finish when the collection is completed.
7. Restart the computer when prompted. The new settings do not take effect until the computer has restarted.

* When two computers have different operating system
When the source computer has non Windows XP operating system, create a wizard disk on Windows XP, store the settings from the source computer and then load the collected data.

Follow the steps below to create a wizard disk on Windows XP
1. Start Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
2. Click Next.
3. Select the New Computer option and click Next.
4. Select the I want to create a Wizard Disk in the following drive. option and click Next.
5. Insert a floppy disk and click OK.
6. When the Now go to your old computer message appears, the creation of the disk is completed.

Follow the steps below to collect data from the source computer using the created Wizard Disk.
1. Insert the created wizard disk in the source computer.
2. Click Start and click Run.
3. Typed a:\fastwiz and click OK.
4. The copying of files begin.
5. When Files and Settings Transfer Wizard appears, the copying is completed.

Follow the steps below to transfer the collected data to the destination computer
1. Start Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
2. Click Next.
3. Click New Computer and click Next.
4. Select the I already have a Wizard Disk option and click Next.
5. Specify the location of the collected files and settings, and click Next. The transferring of files and settings will begin.
6. Click Finish when the transferring has completed.
7. Log off the computer. The new settings do not take effect until the computer is logged on again.
