High resolution and spectacular bokeh come together in lenses that will continue to deliver ultimate performance with the most advanced camera bodies for many years to come.
Large-aperture G Lenses combine a number of advances to deliver exceptional performance. Special glass minimises colour shifts that can occur at large apertures; the circular aperture helps create a beautifully defocused background.
Sony has jointly developed a line of lenses with the legendary ZEISS® to put over 160 years of optical expertise into your hands. Special glass, coatings and sophisticated manufacturing combine to give you truly professional, creative tools.
The skilled photographer sees a scene, imagines how to capture it as a great photo, and then takes on the technical challenge of composing and capturing the image. Having a variety of lenses gives you the precision tools needed to translate imagination into image.
Good portrait lenses have wide apertures to allow faster shutter speeds, helpful indoors or in low light. Wide apertures also give more depth of field, so your subject stands out dramatically from the background. Portrait lenses often feature 50–135 mm focal lengths and F5.6 or larger aperture.
Keep your distance while still getting your shot. Telephoto and high-zoom lenses, especially with focal lengths from 200–500 mm, offer the best way to capture animals in all their glory.
Standout landscapes have clarity and detail, with consistent colour edge-to-edge. The best lenses to use have a short focal length (20–35 mm) and wide angle of view to capture the most scenery. A tripod is helpful for shooting at narrower f-stop, for maximum detail.
For the best close-ups, use a designated macro lens, which has a high magnification power to reproduce life-size images of a subject. Good macro lenses also offer a flat field of focus, to keep both the centre and corners of small objects like postage stamps sharp.
The two key features of a good lens for sports photography are big zoom and a wide or "fast" lens. We offer a range of A-mount and E-mount lenses with both telephoto prime and telephoto zoom for sport action scenes.
